Jeopardy! recap for Mon., Feb. 5

Jeopardy! recap for Mon., Feb. 5 – Here are today’s contestants:

-Sean, an expediter from Cherry Hill, NJ, who has to deal with people pronouncing his last name of Udicious as “Ugoogley”;

– Lorie, a license director from Gonzales, LA, who loves to punch things for 30 minutes; and

– Jenny, a university literature instructor from New York, NY, whose two-year-old is friendly with the Statue of Dante. Jenny is a one-day champ with winnings of $11,899.

Sean led at every commerical break and nailed down his runaway with a strong finish, including a correct reponse to DD3. Going into FJ it was Sean with $22,400, Lorie at $7,400 and Jenny with $2.000.

DD1 – THE PERIODIC TABLE – The coin called a “zincoln” is 97.5% zinc and 2.5% this metal (Lorie won $1,000)

DD2 – OLD TESTA-MEN – “And God said unto” him, “the end of all flesh is come before me,,,and, behold, I will destoy them with the Earth” (Sean won $2,200)

DD3 – BODY PART PHRASES – Reusing his own 4-word phrase, soccer star Diego Maradona said this brought the world “an Argentinian Pope” (Sean won $2,000)

FJ – CABLE TV HISTORY – “You need us…for everything you do” was a slogan used by this channel, one of the first to customize content by location

FJ was a surprising Triple Stumper, with Sean dropping $2,400 to win with an even $20,000.

History hiccups: The players really struggled in a history category, including on clues about the African country that was the target of a 1976 Irseali raid (Uganda) and the group made U.S. citizens by act of Congress in 1924 (Native Americans).

This day in Trebekistan: Alex initially gave credit for a response of Moses for a clue about Samson, and maybe went a bit too far when possibly influencing Sean’s wager on DD3 (“at this point the game’s a runaway for you”).

Correct Qs:

DD1 – What is copper?
DD2 – Who is Noah?
DD3 – What is “the hand of God”?
FJ – What is The Weather Channel?
