Welcome back to the Weekly Pun Thread, which is going just down the street to Laguna Beach, where a church got a little too enthusiastic about offering sacraments to St. Mary…Jane that is:
A 31-year-old Irvine man was arrested after being suspected of using a church as a front for a marijuana dispensary, police said Tuesday, Jan. 23.
Officers went to the business, called the Divine Church of Gardens — Laguna Beach, and found Lucas Dichiara who told them he had been volunteering at the church for three days and was selling sacraments, Cota said.
Dichiara would have gotten away with it too if it wasn’t for those darn kids…and advertising his services online:
“This is the first time in Laguna someone has tried to use a church to cover up a drug operation,” Cota said. “If you’re a church, why would you be listed on Weed Maps?” he added, referring to an online directory used to find storefronts and delivery services for marijuana products.
Let this be a lesson to other churches: go ahead and get your people drunk off sacramental wine, but stay away from the devil weed!
