Based on Go Nagai’s Devilman manga and directed by Masaaki Yuasa, DEVILMAN crybaby premiered on Netflix earlier this month. It tells the story of a high schooler who attends a bacchanalian party that transforms him into a half-man/half-devil. He then uses his newfound powers to mete out vigilante justice. I’ve watched the first three episodes, and so far, I can say that it’s at the very least a competent boobs-and-gore delivery system. Once I’m through the series, I’ll be able to say if it’s something more.
