Grade: A-

So, this was a great episode. Much less sad than I expected, which is a very good thing- it hit the right boundaries between regeneration emotion and Christmas-special fun. A lot of the callbacks, from Rusty the Dalek to the Brigadier, were fun. I enjoyed getting to see Clara and Nardole one last time, and while the plot is a bit loosely constructed, David Bradley’s First Doctor played well with both Capaldi and Mackie. (Twelve’s reactions to his sexist banter was a great running joke.) The regeneration speech was fantastic.
