You read the question, folks: What movie (or movies) are comfortable and reliable enough that you can just throw it on and enjoy, no matter what?
Last night, amidst the insanity of my home life, my wife and I watched a half-hour of Martin Brest’s Midnight Run, a solid action/comedy/road movie that features Robert De Niro and Charles Grodin effortlessly trading some awesome chemistry, with a stacked supporting cast, a simple set up, and a great script. This is the type of movie that feels effortless, but is rare in how good it is.
I also feel this way about many, many John Carpenter movies, with Escape From New York being the type of film I am ALWAYS up for watching.
