The Avocado Weekly Movie Thread (04/07)

Moviacados! This week we had a super fun birthday weekend extravaganza for one of the little fistcrushers and while there was a lot of fun to be had, one of my favourite parts was one of the two theatre movies we saw: Project Hail Mary. And while I won’t get too far into the reasons why I enjoyed it so much here (that is for the comments below) I will touch on the main reason as it is the prompt inspiration this week.

And that reason is simply that I found this movie to be a very enjoyable comforting watch (being vague on purpose to avoid spoilers) and that is kind of what I needed right now. Sometimes you want that satisfying thing, it makes you feel good and happy and warm and safe and comfortable and all kinds of nice feelings. A large portion of my time spent looking for new movies to watch I am pursuing sad movies, movies that bring out huge sadness emotions and while they do help me deal with my own sadness a lot of the time I do not need that all the time. Sometimes I just want a movie that will delight me, that I can eat popcorn, laugh a bit and enjoy what I am watching and this was that movie for me (so far this year) and that is okay (not to say there wasn’t tension and other moments in the movie, but less so than a lot of what I watch).

So, with all that being said I think this week’s prompt is pretty simple: What are your favourite crowd pleasing/satisfying/comfort movies?
