Jeopardy! recap for Thur., Apr. 2

Here are today’s contestants:

– Brian Chu, a professor from Cary, North Carolina;
– Nikki Svetov, an entertainment strategist originally from Long Island, New York; and
– Jamie Ding, a bureaucrat and law student from Lawrenceville, New Jersey. Jamie is a 14-day champ with winnings of $371,600.

Jeopardy!

U.S. HISTORY // TV TITLE PAIRS // WEAPON OF CHOICE // THAT WAS QUITE A SEDER // HOMES // AUTHORITY FIGURES

DD1 – $600 – AUTHORITY FIGURES – The name of this tequila brand, one of the top 5 sellers worldwide, is Spanish for “boss” (Jamie added $5,000 up to $13,000.)

Scores at first break: Jamie $4,000, Nikki -$800, Brian -$400.

Scores entering DJ: Jamie $14,600, Nikki -$800, Brian $400.

Double Jeopardy!

INTERNATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC // WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED // SCHOOL OF MUSIC // PAST PERFECT // THE SILVER SCREEN // AUTHOR FIGURES

DD2 – $1,200 – AUTHOR FIGURES – Nikos Kazantzakis felt this epic poem needed a 33,333-line sequel in which the hero gets tired of being home & leaves once more (Jamie improved by $11,600 up to $45,000.)

DD3 – $2,000 – INTERNATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC – Situated among mountain peaks, this small country has the highest average elevation of any in Europe at about 6,600 feet (With $48,800, Jamie dropped $21,200 down to $27,600.)

Another day, another mismatch as Jamie found all three DDs, but his chance to try again for a six-figure payday was foiled by a miss on DD3, so he entered FJ with “only” $31,200 vs. $2,800 for Brian and $400 for Nikki.

Final Jeopardy!

HISTORIC NAMES – In 2025 France posthumously made this man who was ‘accused, humiliated & condemned’ a brigadier general

Only Jamie was correct on FJ, adding $25,200 to win with $56,400 for a 15-day total of $428,000.

Final scores: Jamie $56,400, Nikki $400, Brian $2,533.

Tough category of the day: The players missed three in a first-round TV category looking for some fairly obscure stuff. I’d bet that a lot of fans who have seen every episode of “Rick & Morty” couldn’t name their voice actors who were brought in for the most recent episodes.

Clue selection strategy: In DJ, three top-row clues were selected with at least one DD still on the board, along with a clue in the category were DD2 was already found.

Correct Qs: DD1 – What is Patrón? DD2 – What is “The Odyssey”? DD3 – What is Andorra? FJ – Who was Alfred Dreyfus?
