Double Jeopardy!

DD2 – $1,200 – ALL PREACHERS GREAT & SMALL – Once known as “the most famous man in America”, this abolitionist preacher also had a famous abolitionist sister (Jamie added $2,600 up to $18,000 vs. $8,200 for Fr. Paul.)
DD3 – $800 – NEOLOGISMS – In Rebecca Solnit’s essay that helped launch this word, a guy informs Rebecca about an important book that he doesn’t realize she wrote (With just top-row clues remaining, Jamie added $500 up to $23,300 vs. $11,000 for Fr. Paul.)
Jamie increased his lead on DD2, then DD3 was available for a long time before Jamie finally found it and secured a runaway at $24,900 vs. $11,000 for Fr. Paul and $6,000 for Barbara.
Final Jeopardy!
FICTIONAL CHARACTERS – Literary theories say the first name of this 1847 title character is meant to evoke plainness while the last name hints at a bequest
Everyone was incorrect on FJ. Jamie dropped $2,280 to win with $22,620 for a 12-day total of $314,440.
Final scores: Jamie $22,620, Fr. Paul $9,999, Barbara $270.
Clue selection strategy: Late in DJ with DD3 still available, the only remaining clues were in the top row, plus two second-row clues, one in the column were DD2 was located. Jamie made a potentially huge strategic error by selecting that clue, but fortunately for him, he got it to retain control and chose DD3 with his next pick in the only place it could logically be.
Correct Qs: DD1 – What is romantacy? DD2 – Who was Beecher? DD3 – What is mansplaining? FJ – Who is Jane Eyre?
