Movieacatos! After last week I was feline it was the purrfect time to celebrate the other side of movie animals, no reason just beclaws. I mean there are a furmidable amount of cats in movie hiss-tory so it should not take to many meowments to come up with a good cats to mention with all the pussabilities out there. So grab some pawpcorn and settle in for a for a lively whiskerscussion.

Cats occupy a different space in stories than dogs. Dogs are often happier and usually have either goofiness or overt menace. Cats are often more aloof and mysterious, they often can bring menace as well but it is a slyer and more subtle in nature. In terms of animation one of the advantages cats can have is a larger menagerie of feline species to play with. Tigers, panthers, lions, lynx, bobcats, ocelots etc are all fair game and each can have their own charactersistics drawn from how they cat inspirations carry themselves in real life (Lions are often seen as regal, or kingly if you will, for example). And don’t get me wrong, cats can also be pretty goofy when the script calls for it, and have that pay off in big ways. Cats run the gamut and we get to enjoy the show.

Which brings me to today’s prompt to finally sate that curiosity before the cat is killed: What is your favourite movie cat? Loose rules apply, any member of feline families or even characters who were not really cat’s but were transformed into them (think Emperor’s New Groove and the like).
