The Avocado Movie Club #42: Monster in a Box (1992)

Welcome to the Movie Club! Today’s movie is Nick Broomfield’s filmed version of Spalding Gray’s monologue Monster in a Box!

Monster in a Box is a monologue written and performed by actor and writer Spalding Gray. In it, he describes the writing process of his first novel, Impossible Vacation, which was inspired by his own mother’s death, along with how his life changed following his appearance in The Killing Fields.

Unfortunately the post today will be rather short as there isn’t much available information about this movie’s production or release! Rotten Tomatoes lists a box office gross of $299.5k, but has no other release information beyond a DVD release on November 28, 2006, and no source for either.
