What Time Does “What Time Does The Super Bowl Start?” Start?
Welcome to Super Bowl LX! Honestly, I keep having a double take at the official logo because the Lombardi Trophy makes it look like it’s saying LIX. Roman numerals funny.
In my quest to watch as many Best Picture nominees as I can, I had booked a theater showing for one of those nominees weeks in advance for today. Not realizing that it will take place during most if not all of the first half of this game! And the film, you may ask? Hamnet. I think that’s accidentally amazing counterprogramming, personally.
So if I come out of the theater, check my phone and see that Sam Darnold (or perhaps Drake Maye) has thrown four picks and the opposing team is up by 40 – blame me, I guess.
Even as an independent observer, I can’t be particularly impartial about who I want to win. I don’t feel the Patriots have suffered ENOUGH as a franchise after winning everything for so long. There’s lots of POLITICS THREAD about Pats ownership. I don’t think Drake Maye is quite there yet. It’s not their time yet (again).
But the Seahawks, just look at the star of the header. Ultimate whipping boy. Alleged viewer of ghosts. If Seattle wins and Darnold is at least competent, this is a true redemption arc. No matter if it hurts our poor Jets fanbase, and especially if it causes the Vikings front office to self-immolate even further and fire even more executives before the draft.
…and I like Kevin O’Connell. I really do. I hope he figures it with JJ McCarthy or whoever they find as a salvage quarterback next season.
Feel free to also talk about the commercials in this thread, as there didn’t seem to be much interest in a separate thread. Regardless, I expect some groaners this year. And if you wish to talk about some of those, your friendly Weekend Politics Thread is nearby. There’s always a pretty bird or several there on weekends!
Thanks again for a fun 2025-26 NFL season! I feel we have a terrific community here – a community that respects/understands the issues surrounding the NFL while just appreciating the CHAOS and suspense of each game. Let’s keep it that way for this thread and beyond!
Enjoy the Super Bowl, everyone!
