…because, for the first time in my life, IT’S TIME TO RAISE THE CURTAIN ON AN ALL-NEW MUPPET SHOW TONIGHT!

The reviews are glowing. Sabrina Carpenter is a perfect guest for a throwback variety show. Now all that’s left is for us to watch it – and please do, because as Kermit says in the trailer in a joke that’s not quite a joke, “we are so excited to be back where it all started, and then ended, and then is maybe starting again depending on how tonight goes”.

I could embed the trailer, or some of the fun interviews the Muppets have done to promote the special, but instead I’ll embed a personal favorite clip. The Muppets performed at Just For Laughs in Montreal in 2012, and when the show began with a rendition of the Muppet Show theme song (slightly tweaked for the event), the audience explodes. (Figuratively – Crazy Harry wasn’t in the opening number.)

The Muppet Show returns at 9PM EST on ABC, and is already available on Disney+.
