Comic Book Conversations: First appearances

Today lets talk about first appearances. The ones that got you invested, the ones you got because you were invested or the ones that were an investment.

What are the ones where you were there on day one? Did you become ride-or-die for a character who maybe didn’t amount to much? Or maybe you didn’t know you were seeing something special at that moment?

What are the ones you tracked down later? Were you a fan of the character and wanted to see them from the beginning? Was it all you imagined? Maybe the character was so rough in that first appearance that they don’t resemble what you or others would care about later.

Did you ever buy any comics purely to sell them later? Maybe word on the street said that the new character sensation destined for media adaptation would someday be worth something and your rushed to the store to pick it up. How’d that turn out for you?

Last week, we conversed about your first issues.

Next week, we’ll converse about biographical comics.
