Hello friends today we have a collection of animated shows that have brassy horns in their introductory theme songs. Who doesn’t love a brassy horn?
First up we have the theme song from the Nickelodeon series The Angry Beavers (1997-2003). For some reason known only to science, this is the song that plays in my empty mind on the rare occasions that I manage to free it of all clutter. I didn’t even watch the show all that much, but I dunno, that’s just how brain physics works I guess.
Next up is the theme song from Disenchantment (2018-2023), a show that many people were lukewarm on, although I myself was on the warmer side of luke upon it. It was kind of fun as an adventure serial and it had some nice performances (especially Abbi Jacobson in the lead as Bean).
But no matter how luke or warm one is on the show itself, the theme song by The Blue Notes is a jam. The animation changed each week to match the upcoming episode, which was pretty neat. Netflix has this general non-episode-specific extended version here:
Our final example today is pretty obscure and not a lot of people have heard about it, but did you know there was once a whole anime that was based around jazz music one time?1 Here is “Tank!” by Yoko Kanno performed by The Seatbelts from the 1998 series Cowboy Bebop. Trumpets!
Happy Day Threading!
