Man, McDonald’s used to really push these gift certificates for the holidays back in the day. Now they’re just a Ghost of McChristmas Past. Also, I love how this is almost framed as a PSA. “Make someone happy, by giving them McDonald’s food!” It’s like the most wholesome form of capitalism out there (or the most cynical, depending on your point of view). Truly the “I’d like to buy the world a Coke!” of McDonaldland.

Also, I have no idea why there’s a counter here. Probably because this is a print which never actually aired on television, hence the high picture quality. There are other, longer uploads of this ad, but the video on them is crap, so I went with this one. And yes, I did spend a solid amount of time debating which one to share here. I don’t overthink these things at all!
