“Are you getting FRESH with me, dipstick?”
Today’s Gumball OT goes to what I’d name as the single funniest episode of the series, and one of the funniest TV episodes I’ve ever seen, Season 2’s “The Sweaters.”

Gumball and Darwin meet excitable new student Sarah G. Lato, and are subsequently menaced for no reason by Carlton and Troy, two snobbish sweater-covered tennis players from Sarah’s old school, Richwood High. Carlton and Troy act out an extremely one-sided pastiche of an 80s sports movie á la Karate Kid, faced at every turn with Gumball and Darwin’s apathy and disengagement, but proceeding as if Gumball and Darwin are acting like defiant spunky protagonists. (Their Omniman-lookin-ass teacher Mr. Kreese also shows up and makes an ass of himself.)

Gumball and Darwin are eventually goaded into a fight (read: tennis match) to save their school from Carlton and Troy’s rich land developer father. They proceed with continuing apathy, but somehow prove themselves to have the hearts of heroes and earn Carlton and Troy’s respect..
