Results:

Fourth place goes to Africa. It only gathered a single vote in the third place match but it had a very impressive run from the 22nd seed raking off a series of upsets against three tracks from the Giant Steps album (including the title track!) to make the top 4.

Third place goes to My Favorite Things with 8 votes in the third place match making it the only non-original composition to have a truly strong run in the tournament. Then again, we’re talking about a strong contender for the greatest cover of all time.

Second Place goes to Blue Train, with 5 votes in the final. After initally pulling ahead by 4 votes to none, it seemed like tracks from the Blue Train album would continue their perfect streak of pulling off an upset in every round but it was not to be.

The winner is A Love Supreme with 6 votes in the final. There’s no doubt that once I made the decision that the entire suite should count as one, it became a favourite to take the whole tournament but the outcome was far from a foregone conclusion. In the end it only took the final by a single vote.
