The kids of Hawkins have grown up. The military’s looking for them. And interdimensional monsters are ready to eat the town.

Stranger Things premiered on July 15, 2016. A monster kidnapped a child and the town went searching for him. The Duffer Brothers referenced the iconography of Stephen King novels and beloved 80’s films. It became a success and a flagpole series for Netflix.

Then something went wrong. COVID, a writer’s strike and the Duffer’s own ambition caused a slowdown in production. There were three-year breaks between seasons. There have been comics, a video game and a stage play to fill in the gaps. But many fans dropped off without engaging with those. Will season five be worth the wait?
