As we head into the Spooky Season, I’m hoping to put together a couple of Things That Are Not articles, as time and research allow. I’m also considering moving this thread to a different day, since my work schedule changes in October and posting these on Tuesday might not be feasible.

In a related note, this week’s optional discussion: Historical hoaxes. These can other be hoaxes from history, or hoaxes *of* history. This fits in with our discussion of pseudoscience, which is a frequent topic in the History Thread, and can be either something relatively harmless and silly, or something with a long and damaging impact on science or culture (the Piltdown Man or Loys Ape).
