Okay, so you remember calling cards? Congratulations, you’re old. Also, do you remember pay phones? Congratulations, that also means you’re old. Remember Superman? Okay, well, he’s still relevant.

I do love everything about this commercial, from the charming animation, to Clark being able to “save the day” without his alter ego for a change. There is, however, a surprising amount of supposed misinformation about this ad. Some claim it was produced for the Super Bowl. It wasn’t (at least according to this upload, it aired during the Rose Bowl). But what really goes around is that Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder returned to reprise their roles, and from what I’ve been able to gather, that sadly isn’t true. Granted, Clark does sound like he could’ve been Reeve here. but Lois? Completely different voice. Anyway, don’t quote me on this if you ever end up on Jeopardy! or anything, since I can’t find any “official” information on this one way or the other. But it has, apparently, been debunked.
