Trini Kwan is a Teenager With Attitude. She was the first Yellow Power Ranger1, recruited by Zordon in 1993 in response to the escape of the Evil Space Witch Rita Repulsa from her dumpster prison after it crash-lands on the Moon and is opened by a pair of astronauts. She is more serious than her teammates, staying calm and collected in the face of danger. She is also one of the best fighters, trained in mantis-style kung-fu. In addition, she’s very smart, often being the one to translate Billy’s technobabble into expositionplain English. Despite being so well-rounded and awesome, she is afraid of heights, though she is able to overcome that for the sake of her friends.

Eventually,2 she, along with Jason and Zack, is chosen to be a representative for a worldwide teen Peace Conference in Switzerland, necessitating that she transfer her powers and place as a Ranger to Aisha Campbell. However, in comics continuity, it turns out that the Peace Conference is a ruse, and Trini and the others instead have been chosen to start a new team3, the Omega Rangers, formed to deal with the galaxy-level threat of the Anointed.4

As the Yellow Omega Ranger, she travels the far reaches of space gathering empowered individuals and refugees and bringing them to the planet Safehaven. She eventually returns to Earth and reveals her new Ranger powers to her old friends when Jason is injured in battle with the Anointed, and the old and new Rangers team up to deal with the threat. Later,5 when Jason is again injured by the Death Ranger and must give up his powers, Trini becomes the leader of the Omega Rangers and is promoted to Red Omega Ranger, because that’s how leadership works in this universe.
Years later,6 back in our universe, Trini has taken back the Yellow Mighty Morphin’ powers when Billy accidentally brings back Rita as Robo-Rita. Trini is killed in battle with Robo-Rita, defending Billy from a deadly blast. She is succeeded as Yellow Ranger by her daughter, Minh Kwan, who helps Billy and the other Rangers7 defeat Robo-Rita.
Have a Great Day Thread, and until next time…
