I mean, I know she’s new, but I don’t know if being a year is necessarily the right fit for her. If…everything has you in a charitable donation kind of mood, here are some places you can do that:
- World Central Kitchen: José Andrés’s joint, providing meals on the front lines of disasters
- CORE: Community Organized Relief Efforts; provides immediate relief and recovery to underserved communities
- Direct Relief: Provides medical resources
- International Medical Corps: Also provides medical resources
All of the above organizations have international missions but are also responding to the LA wildfires, in recognition of the fact that we’re an international community but the LA wildfires may be top of mind for a lot of folks right now. For LA-specific donations, the California Community Fund has a wildfire recovery fund, and SPCA-LA has a disaster response team specifically for the wee baby turtles and other animal friends.
Remember kids, things tend to want to get heated while we’re out there under the hot sun in the Disqus fields, but let’s keep it cool. Be nice to each other. Take care of yourselves.
