In the past I’ve done some broad favorite kitchen tool threads. My offered to help a friend of hers up her cooking game. She’s going to go to the friend’s house and they’ll cook together. She’ll start with fairly simple things that can be adjusted for ingredients on hand or on sale. What really struck me is that she told the friend to get a digital scale and an instant read thermometer. These are two tools we really rely on and as I’m thinking about it I’d say the scale is one of the most indispensable tools we have. We have three and they all stay out.
The original is the Escali in the header. It can handle pretty heavy items and switches units easily. We then bought another Escali that’s for lighter items, it will do tenths of a gram. We found another like the Escali at a garage sale for $3 so that was a no-brainer. If it wasn’t such a find we likely would still have the two Escali’s, we’re nuts but not that nuts.
I’m hoping to do somewhat regular kitchen tool posts over the next few months. Keep reminding me!
