30 Day Time Travel challenge day 2: Stuck in the past!

Welcome to the challenge of August, which is going to be all about Time; mostly fiction dealing with Time Travel, but also other topics to do with Time, and the manipulation thereof.

A lot of time travel stories are about visiting the past, whether deliberately or accidentally, and once there you can wring a lot of dramatic juice out of getting stuck there, because a lot of the olden days sucked. And so todays prompt is about stories where modern characters are thrust into the past and can’t just readily leave- what are your favorites? Do you enjoy this trope? Which characters took to this experience the best and worst?

Bonus Prompt: What are the worst / most underwhelming examples of this trope?

Extra Bonus Prompt: What “period piece” character was so anachronistic, it’d have made more sense if they were from the future?

Paradox Bonus Prompt: What period would be the best/worst to get stuck in? And what ONE thing would you bring with you?
