Kimberly Hart was the first Pink Power Ranger.1 Chosen by Zordon to oppose the Evil Space Witch, Rita Repulsa, she received the Pink Pterodactyl Power Coin and became the Mighty Morphin’ Pink Power Ranger. She is the most lighthearted of the team, constantly making jokes and quips at the monsters, a habit noted by her alternate evil2 future self3 as a distraction tactic.

Because it was the 90’s, Kimberly was also the most likely to get stuck in misadventures and/or distress. In the course of the series, she was trapped in a magic jar, body-swapped with Billy, turned into a “punk” (with Billy), trapped on a plane with an unconscious pilot who had been magically drugged by Rita Repulsa, and competed on the nationally famous Halloween-themed game show, Trick or Treat. You’ve all seen it. Oh, and she also develops a romance with Tommy, the Green Ranger, who initially shows up all brainwashed and evil, but he gets over it and they kiss next to a lake and it’s the last time Power Rangers are allowed to kiss for like 30 years.
Unlike some of the other Rangers, Kimberly isn’t a trained fighter – her main skill before becoming a Ranger was gymnastics. And she incorporates that into her abilities as a Power Ranger, becoming highly mobile and graceful on the battlefield. That, combined with her special weapon, the Power Bow, makes use of her greatest strength – her precision. Often, Kimberly is the only one able to defeat a monster, thanks to her deadly aim and perfect timing allowing her to strike the monster’s weak point, be that Snizzard’s golden head-apple, Spit Flower’s mist sac, or Terror Toad’s secondary mouth.
The arrival of the evil space flesh-skeleton Lord Zedd escalates things, leading to him kidnapping Kimberly and attempting to make her his evil bride, which fails because his flying gorilla-lion minion Goldar is incompetent, but does lead to Kimberly performing an absolutely incredible impression of Rita Repulsa to keep Goldar and his flunkies off-guard until reinforcements can arrive. This is because Kimberly is extremely quick-thinking and adaptable, a trait used again when she falls into a random time-hole and ends up in Cowboy Times. When Goldar and the cactus-monster Needlenose follow her back in time, she finds the Zordon of the past and convinces him to give her the Power Coins to recruit the identical ancestors of her friends to become temporary Power Rangers to save the town and send the monsters back to the future.

Eventually,4 Kimberly has the opportunity to work with a world-famous gymnastics coach and train to compete in the Pan-Global Games, which are definitely not anything like a trademarked worldwide sports event involving rings. At the same time, her powers and her lifeforce are being drained by the machinations of Rita and Zedd, who brainwash an innocent newcomer, Katherine into stealing the Pink Power Coin. In her weakened state, she sacrifices herself to save Katherine in a selfless act that breaks Kat’s brainwashing. Kimberly then decides to follow her dreams and passes her powers on to Kat, who becomes the new Pink Power Ranger, for the next like 8 episodes before she loses the Mighty Morphin powers and transitions into Zeo. But that’s another story.
Speaking of another story, in the alternate future where Tommy never stops being evil, the Kimberly Hart of that world becomes a vigilante opposing the evil Tommy, until she is captured and brainwashed into becoming the evil Ranger Slayer, who accidentally gets sent to the past, where she gets un-brainwashed by her past self and becomes good, then goes off on some space adventures and eventually returns to her own dimension to rule in the deposed evil-dictator-Tommy’s place.
Anyway, in main-continuity current day, Kimberly has reclaimed the Mighty Morphin Pink powers and is active along with the other original Power Rangers when Billy causes the return of Robo-Rita.
Have a great Day Thread! And remember:
