This is our 4th annual Oops All Cupids! game for Valentine’s season! It’s going to be a big one with 21+ players, hidden mechanics, and narrative headers. This game is based on the romantic comedy otome game Cupid Parasite which came out in Nov 2021. Its fan disc* Cupid Parasite: Sweet and Spicy Darling is coming out in June 2024! You can bet your millet that this chicken is going to be playing that at release~!
*A fan disc is not a full standalone sequel but a follow-up release of bonus content (e.g. epilogues, additional routes).
Cupid Corp & Clients! (Roled Town & Vanilla Town)
- 12+ Clients (Vanilla Townies) — The clientele of Cupid Corp. Your vote is your power… and so is your ability to be paired off at night!
- Lynette Mirror (Town Vigilante Cupid): Lynette Mirror is the minor goddess Cupid herself come down to Earth to learn how humans fall in love without the intervention of her arrows. Each night, Lynette must pick a player to be in a Cupid Couple. Cupid Coupling Mechanics:
- Lynette cannot select anyone from Cupid Corp (Roled Townie) for her pairing.
- On the first successful selection, the selected player will be told “Cupid has her eye on you!”
- On a second successful selection, a Cupid Couple may be formed.
- If the players are a Client (vanilla townie) and a Parasite (wolf), the couple will fall apart and both players exit the game.
- Cupid Couples can be made up of Client/Client or Parasite/Parasite.
- If one half of a Cupid Couple dies, the other will survive and no longer be couple-able.
- Lynette will not be told the outcomes of her attempted couplings.
- Some hidden mechanics may alter the specifics of Lynette’s powers. Check back here each morning to know the result 😉
- Chii (Cupid’s Bodyguard): Chii is Lynette’s divine beast companion from Olympus. Chii shares a private chat with Lynette. At the first day or night kill attempt on Lynette, Chii will die in her place.
- Owen Herriot (Town Doctor): Shelby Snail’s very overworked personal assistant who is so busy he doesn’t have time to date. Each night, Owen may pick a player to protect from a kill. Cannot pick the same option two nights in a row.
- Claris Tia (Town Alignment Investigator): Lynette’s best friend and an app developer at Cupid Corp. She wrote the Love Match Test matching quiz which is famous for sorting clients into compatibility pools. Each night, Claris may pick a player to investigate to learn their Alignment.
The Parasite Five! a.k.a. Team Parasite (Wolf Roles)
- Gill Lovecraft (Agape/Devotion): The freelance editor and Lynette’s college roommate who is known in Cupid Corp as the Lovelorn Parasite. He has been in love with “a girl from his past” *cough*Lynette*cough* and is trying to use Cupid Corp’s services to get over her. Once during the game, Gill may pick another player who he will observe for the rest of the game. All night actions going forth taken by and acted upon this player will be reported to Gill. The formation of couples starting on observation night is reported, but if the observed player is already in a private chat its existence will not be reported.
- Shelby Snail (Pragma/Practical): The president of Cupid Corp who is secretly known as the Prestige Parasite. Due to a misprint by the press when Cupid Corp was in the startup phase, he has been lying about his marital status for the last five years. He has an anonymous profile inside his own company to find a wife so he can stop lying to the public. Once during the game, Shelby may attempt to make his own Couple with another available single player. Shelby’s coupling will render his partner ineligible for future couplings. For the purposes of Lynette’s and Claris’s powers, Shelby appears as “Cupid Corp”.
- Raul Aconite (Ludus/Playful): The action movie star who is known in Cupid Corp as the Obsessed Parasite. Due to his hyper-fixation on Greek mythology, he can’t make connections with anyone he is set up with. He has never been in love, he doesn’t care to learn about it, and it shows in his acting–which is why his manager signed him up for Cupid Corp’s services. Once during the game after the first Parasite death, Raul may attempt to recruit a Client into the Parasite 5.
- Ryuki Keisaiin (Eros/Passion): The heir to the KeiSai:in fashion empire, and a superstar designer in his own right, Ryuki is known in Cupid Corp as the Glamour Parasite. He has a form of synesthesia which overlays colors onto the people he meets. If someone’s color isn’t beautiful enough, he simply ceases to perceive them no matter how beautiful they are. Once during the game, Ryuki may select another player and learn their full role description with all hidden components included.
- Allan Melville (Mania/Obsessive): The top salesperson at the designer bedding store Pillow Luxuria and a notorious local seducer of women in relationships. He is known in Cupid Corp as the Thieving Parasite. Why is he even signed up with Cupid Corp? No one knows! Once during the game, Allan may select a player to Jail. If that player was in a Cupid Couple, the couple is torn apart and neither player may be coupled up by Lynette again.
Special Mechanics!
- Each night, in addition to their faction kill, Team Parasite may choose for one of their members to use their one-shot power. Only one Parasite may use their one-shot power per night.
- There are hidden roles/mechanics in this game.
- We’re going to be “playing” the game together in the header each day so movements at night will have an effect on the narrative. 😉
Win Conditions!
- Town wins when all parasites are gone.
- Wolves win when they make up half or more of the number of active players.
- Hidden additional win conditions exist for some roles but do not alter the fundamentals of a town victory versus a wolf victory.
