The flower is only open for 48 hours and attracts insect pollinators with its stench of rotting flesh.

This plant rarely blooms in cultivation (usually only producing a flower after 7-9 years), however, the specimen in the Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh, Scotland – nicknamed “Auld Reekie” – is blooming for the third time in five years … and hopefully is spreading its stink right now!
