Hello and welcome to my first tournament. In this one, we will decide the best anime protagonist.

Here are some ground rules:

• Post a top level comment to nominate someone. Replies will not be counted.
• Post the character name and series. Feel free to add a picture of your protagonist.
• Check other comments to see if they’ve already been nominated. If they have, feel free to upvote them.
• The top 32 upvoted protagonists (or 64 if this is more popular than I expect) will be entered into the tournament and face off.
• I’ll try to be somewhat forgiving with the concept of “protagonist”, but for the sake of simplicity, it’s gonna be the main character the story follows. It’s not always a “good” character. Death Note’s Light is a protagonist, while L is the antagonist. Some anime might have 2-4 protagonists, which is fine. We can argue a bit in the comments if we need to.
• This is for anime series, so one-off movies, like Princess Mononoke sadly do not qualify. A protagonist from a series who happens to be in a movie is fine, though. (OVA series are also fine, so long as there is more than one entry)
• Anime has a long-argued meaning, but let’s try not to push it. For the sake of this tournament, The Simpsons isn’t anime.
• Downvotes don’t count against anyone. Don’t be shitty.
