The Weekly Music Discussion Thread is On The Air

Let’s discuss any and all music here. You’ve got a new artist who’s rocking your boat that you want to talk about? Post a video! Found out about that unearthed Coltrane album that has the jazz freak in you losing your mind? Lay it out for us! Do you have a theory about what your favorite band might do for their next album? Let’s hear it! Anything and everything music-related goes here.

This week’s prompt: Radio waves. Do you still listen to music via radio? Did you ever? Got any favorite stations? Are they terrestrial, satellite or internet? Growing up, radio was my window to discovering music. I would sit with my Realistic tape recorder’s internal mic placed next to the clock radio speaker, finger hovered over the pause button, and record my favorite tunes being played. Mostly listening to Casey Kasem’s American Top Forty and The Doctor Demento Show. These days, I rarely tune in. The music nerd in me has a hard time letting someone else decide what I’ll be listening to. When I do, I stick to the local college stations where they still remain. For a time, I hosted a regular music show on college stations in Florida and Washington. Our own Jaye Tyler has a radio show, Music For Chameleons, in the Chicago area on WCXP 107.1 every Tuesday from 8-10 Central. Jaye even has a weekly thread on Tuesday for requests from us ‘Cados. If you miss it, you can catch the show later on the facebook page here.

Broadcast your radio tunes and receive some waves. Or just talk about what yr digging this week. And as always, rock out with yr guac out.
