Jeopardy! recap for Thur., Feb. 15

Jeopardy! recap for Thur, Feb. 15 – Today’s contestants are:

– Shawn, a pediatrician from Hanover, NH, who keeps moving in a northerly direction with a goal of being Canadian;
– Matt, a graphic designer and illustrator from Portland, OR, whose Metal Shakespeare Co. asks the musical question “To Bleed or Not to Bleed?”; and
– Rob, an escalation manager from Edina, MN, whose job sounds to Alex somewhat similar to “The IT Crowd”. Rob is a one-day champ with winnings of $15,900.

Both Rob and Shawn made good moves by doubling up on the first two DDs, but Shawn’s miss on DD3 cost her the lead going into the final round.

Shawn was in a close second with $14,000 behind Rob at $16,800 while Matt was far back with $4,200, so with a properly-sized bet of less than $5,600, Shawn was in position to take the victory if Rob missed FJ.

DD1 (video) – HOLIDAYS & OBSERVANCES – An aerobatic team performs during a parade celebrating this July holiday in Europe (Rob won $4,800 on a true DD.)

DD2 – COUNTRY NAME ORIGINS – The first Spanish explorers in the region noticed silver ornaments worn by natives and this country’s name was born (Shawn won $5,600 on a true DD.)

DD3 – THE CLINTON CABINET – During Clinton’s second term, former U.S. Army lieutenant Togo West headed this cabinet department (Shawn lost $4,000)

FJ – MEDIEVAL ASIA – Though it means “one who serves”, in medieval Japan it was a property owner who received rent from serfs

No one was correct on FJ and Shawn bet far too much, losing $9,500 to finish with $4,500. Rob bet big as expected, but even with his $11,201 loss, he had enough to hang on with $5,599 for a two-day total of $21,499.

Triple Stumpers of the day: The players didn’t know the theater started in 1937 by Orson Welles was the Mercury Theater, or that the performers of “I Don’t Like Mondays” at Live-Aid were The Boomtown Rats.

Correct Qs:

DD1 – What is Bastille Day?
DD2 – What is Argentina?
DD3 – What is Veteran’s Affairs?
FJ – What is a samurai?
