American Dad! Season 22, Episode 8, “Dude, You’re Getting a Del”

In which Klaus tries to bond with Snot…

On this Mother’s Day, this American Dad! is going to focus on its great mother character Francine Smith Mrs. Snot’s Mom Lonstein. What? Ok, so that’s not the case. However, it is used as a jumping point for another Klaus/other pairing. And we get a follow-up to a TBS storyline and a nod to another TBS ear Roger persona.

As Steve and Snot are celebrating a perfect successful sleepover (adult movie, video games, a loose pill), they discover that Klaus is sleeping with Snot’s mom. Klaus is happy just sleeping with Snot’s Mom but she declares that she and Snot are a package deal. So Klaus tries to bond with him with poor results (poor shaving and hanging with Klaus’s boys in an abandoned Taco Bell and trying to bond over a garbage truck). When Klaus realizes it’s not working, Steve tells him he has to try doing things Snot likes, like Snot’s Mom’s old boyfriend Del.

So he takes Snot to the baseball card store but before they can actually bond, Del shows up unexpectedly. Del takes Snot on lots of activities and Klaus starts to stalk them. Eventually this leads to Klaus kidnapping Del and trying to execute him. However, a blown tire and Del’s kindness and resourcefulness show Klaus what a good guy he is. Of course, Klaus begins to bond with Del and it all culminates in him trying to kill Snot. Del eventually gets him to back off by promising a trip to Denny’s but Snot just kicks him off the cliff. Del, Snot and Snot’s Mom all live happily ever after.

Over in the B-plot, Hayley and Jeff open a cat cafe and Roger (sorry, Marmalade) applies for a position. Of course, he never actually shows up to work thanks to his own mishaps. First he runs out of charge on his car because it’s an early model. Then he has to drop his kitten kids off at school. He tries to buy into a partnership but when Hayley fires him instead, he brings her to court and ends up winning the cat cafe. He turns it into a more adult cat cafe and everyone is happy, Klaus and Snot included.

Stray Observations

Final Thoughts: I enjoyed this one, the jokes were strong and essentially keeping continuity was nice
