The 12/01 Night Thread of Every Muppet Christmas Header That Ever There ‘Twas

(a) I know what ‘Twas is, it’s just fun to use words sometimes. Whomst. It’s fine.

(b) I thought I’d start off December with some sort of Muppet-themed Christmas OT header, but then correctly guessed that there have already been OT headers for pretty much every Muppet Christmas thing.

So tonight’s OT header is celebrating all of the great OT headers that have come before us at the intersection of Muppet and Christmas. Or at least the ones I could find via a rudimentary search of the site. If you notice any one that I left out please let me know and I will remedy it ASAP!

Perhaps the greatest Muppet movie of all time, The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992), has its own dedicated header by Scratstitch, as well as one in which Zeussical correctly points out the egregious error of cutting “When Love Is Gone” from the theatrical release (although the full version is restored on some home releases). Flubba also has a great header featuring two other songs less-famously deleted from the film.

A Muppet Family Christmas (1987) is a TV special that has headers by both Tereglith and by Scratstitch and it deserves two headers because it is great. It is so great that Future Ex-Mrs. Malcolm did a third header dedicated solely to the snowman comedian who befriends Fozzie in the film. “What’s snew with you?” Gets me every time.

Another header by Tereglith celebrates what is objectively the greatest Christmas album of all time, John Denver and the Muppets: A Christmas Together (1979), from the TV special of the same name.

Of course we here at The Avocado would never forget our good friends over on Sesame Street. Christmas Eve on Sesame Street (1978) has a great header in which El Santo points out that Oscar’s Christmas grumpiness almost sent Big Bird to an early grave? Scratstitch highlights the less-famous A Special Sesame Street Christmas starring Leslie Uggams from the same year here, and Elmo Saves Christmas (1997), including a great Bert and Ernie bit, here.

Shockingly, I can find no trace of an OT header for Emmett Otter’s Jug-band Christmas (1977) which seems like something we would have done? There are also some latter-day Muppet features such as Letters to Santa (2008) that remain un-headered. Fraggle Rock and its reboot both have had fantasy-rock-otherworld winter-holiday-equivalent episodes as well that have never been headered. Just in case anyone wants to do one of those.

In conclusion, here is skekTek the Scientist from The Dark Crystal in a Santa hat that my friend made for me for my RP in April’s Muppet Christmas Carol Werewolfs game which was technically not an OT header but was super fun.

Merry Muppets!
