Box Office: June 28-30

While some competition came onto the field as we get ready for the 4th of July holiday, Toy Story 4 still took the top spot as it added another $58 million to bring it to $236 million domestic. It’s a solid run for the film and while there will be a whole lot of close examination of percentage dropped, it’s the kind of thing that forgets to factor in the summer season with weekday viewings going up for families and the like as well. That the film is at this point in about ten days is pretty great overall.

The weekend saw the debut of Annabell Comes Home, which actually got underway on Wednesday where it made about $10 million. The weekend had it pulling in another $20 to bring it to just about $31 million overall. Estimates are pretty much on track but the prior two films opened about $5-7 million more each, making this a franchise to retire for a bit.

Yesterday came in at third with some decent last-minute buzz and marketing where it did $17 million, which was at the high end of projections. With a $26 million budget, it’s going to have to work it for a few weeks and hopefully finds its audience.

Avengers: Endgame snuck itself back into the run with some additional footage and material for fans and it landed in seventh place, bringing its domestic to $841 million.

This coming holiday weekend means things are a little out of sorts. Sony has Spider-Man: Far From Home out on Tuesday in 4,350 screens while Wednesday has Midsommar from A24 hitting wide release. On Friday, Roadside Attractions has Marianne & Leonard: Words of Love coming out in limited release.
