THEY‘RE FRICKIN MARRIED!!!!!!!

As I’ve spent the entire week harping on, this is an historic event. Never before in the history of television has a same-sex wedding been shown in what is, ultimately, a kids’ show. Nowhere in the world, to my knowledge has this ever been done; not Japan with its (admittedly often questionable and problematic) use of yuri and yaoi elements in anime, not in progressive strongholds like Sweden or Canada, but right here on good old Steven Universe. And it’s our own Ruby and Sapphire at the center of it all. I know I’ve talked this up a lot but it truly is an important. It happened, and they can never take it back, and as you can see from the header, there was a full on, mouth-to-mouth kiss, and they did that too, so fuck all the naysayers that said CN wouldn’t let it happen.

Oh, yeah, and some other plot stuff happened too with the Diamonds and all, which I’m sure was cool, but… whatever, Ruby and Sapphire are married! Honestly, the rest is too much to spoil here, but the last two thirds of the episode are one of the most powerful sequences this show has ever produced.

And I guess I was wrong, we have more coming this season (hopefully soon!)
