Welcome to The Avocado’s weekly discussion of Japanese pop culture! Today I have something a little different. Every Fall, an organization called Table for Two holds a special event for World Food Day called Onigiri Action. It’s very simple and fun to participate.
Every time you post a photo related to onigiri with #OnigiriAction, our partner organizations will donate 5 school meals to children in need. It is free to participate. Plus, you can participate as many times as you want! Every post provides an additional 5 meals. Our annual “Change the World with Onigiri #OnigiriAction” is generously supported by our partner organization. Thanks to them, your individual action can have a global reach.
If you’ve never made onigiri, this is the perfect time to try! The campaign runs until November 17th. If you make some onigiri, I’d love to see a photo, but more importantly make sure to post it on the site –> https://onigiri-action.com/en/ You don’t need to use social media to participate, and they have instructions for how to make onigiri as well. If you want more tips, of course, I’m happy to help and to answer any questions!
And, as always…
What have you been watching/reading/playing/eating/listening to lately?
Happy Wednesday! 🍙
