Sportacados Discussion Thread for October 19-20, 2026

BYU students storm the field after their victory over Notre Dame

This is the Sportacados Discussion Thread, for talking about all things sports! Feel free to live-chat games, talk about the latest news and rumours, discuss sports history, and anything else that relates to watching other grown adults throw or hit a ball. Hateration is allowed, but try to keep it within the realm of light banter.

News and Results

* It was Blood Week in college football, with 5 of the top 7 suffering losses, including #1 Georgia and #2 Notre Dame. After the dust has settled, Miami is the new #1 team, despite playing a pretty light schedule thus far and surviving their own scare against unranked Florida State. Especially in trouble is Arch Manning’s Texas, who suffered their second loss to an unranked team against Florida and still have three ranked opponents to go.

* In the pro ranks, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is expected to be out for the season after blood clots were discovered in his lungs. The condition is potentially career-threatening, and the initial response to it seems bizarre, with Hurts reportedly playing in the London game after not sleeping for 36 hours and then returning on an intercontinental flight. Elsewhere, the Indianapolis Colts fired General Manager Chris Ballard after the humiliation of losing to the Tennessee Titans.

* The ATP Tour ended its Asian swing, with Alexander Davidovich Fokina beating Rafael Jodar in an all-Spanish final at the Shanghai Masters. The action now moves indoors in the lead-up to the ATP Finals. The women’s side of the tour had an even more surprising final, with Maja Chwalinska defeating Sonay Kartal to win the Wuhan Open.
