“El Viaje Misteriosa De Nuestro Dad” is the 7th episode of the 12th Season of the USAmerican television situation comedy Dad’s Casa.
It was after midnight, Dad was eating a box of expired Zeitgeist cereal and watching The Twilight Zone, the original. Dad had bought several hundred boxes of Zeitgeist cereal in 1993 when it was discontinued and despite Mom and later Junior and the twins’ telling him to throw out the cereal, he did not. He loved the ghost and hourglass marshamallows too much and would not concede that the marshamallows taste the same as other General Mills marshmallows. Dad spills cereal on his shirt and goes to the kitchen to clean up. There is a strange glow outside, in the middle distance, and Dad goes to check it out. Dad experiences a discontinuity of conciousness. It was sort of light out when it should be dark and the neighborhood looked different. *It looks like it did when-* and that’s when Dad sees his younger self a street over. Well, this is bad, thought Dad. I can’t let him see me-Oh he did see me because I saw me before though before and now are the same… Oh, I’m the first non-animated character to travel through time! Ok, breathe. Dad follows his younger self discretely to the Casa. Okay, they’ve gone in. I can’t let them see me when they come out so I should *the strange light reappears* Oh, that’s convenient. Dad walks toward the light and experiences another discontinuity of consciousness. It was now dark again. Hopefully, I’m back, Dad thinks. He goes back in by the kitchen and sees Beth sitting, on a stool at the island, drinking tea. “How was the trip to the past Dad?” “How did-oh right, witch” “I saw the light and I was glad because I’ve been waiting” *ring-ring* Dad answers the phone. “It’s Sue again.” “Oh, that’s why you’ve been calling late recently.” Dad hands the phone to Beth and goes back to the living room. “Satisfying?”, Sue asks rehetorically. Beth answers: “Very much. Good night Sue.” “Good night Beth.” Beth goes to her room by the back stairs. Dad turns off the tv, and brings the box, bowl and spoon into the kitchen. I wonder if it was the cereal, Dad thinks and shrugs and goes to bed.
