It’s once again time to choose our community representatives for the Mafia Championship, hosted by Mafia Universe!
The official invitation is here. We need to select a representative and an alternate (in case our rep needs to bow out for any reason). The deadline is April 19th, but they’d appreciate it if we get back to them sooner than that. This year’s qualifier setup is Matrix 2×5 (read the invite for details). Semifinal/finale games will be played using the Mountainous setup.
The first year we participated Spiny Creature was our amazing representative, after that we sent Grumproro, then it was sic humor, after that we sent Nate, then it was April, then moonstermash, and last year MSD was chosen! If you’re unsure if you want to participate, please feel free to ask questions about what it’s like. One thing to note, and this is taken directly from the invitation linked above, is that you will need to devote a fair amount of time to the game(s) if you are chosen:
These games are typically very active! Your representative should be prepared to read upwards of 500-1000 posts per 24 hours during the early days of the game. This volume may vary drastically depending on how active the players in your game are, and we can’t guarantee if you will be in a low or high volume game before the game starts! Only active players should apply/participate. To reiterate: Your chosen representative must be able to handle a good amount of daily activity!
And if you’re wondering when your game might be:
There will be 8 Qualifier Games, and your representative plays in just one of these. Their start dates are each Monday from March 9th – April 27th. In other words, as long as your representative can play sometime during that period, they should be good and I’ll make sure they get scheduled into a game that suits their schedule.
The 3 Semifinal Games will be played in May/June/July, and the Finale Game sometime in July/August/September (whenever we can work out something that suits everyone). The Game of Backups will be played between the Qualifiers and Semifinal Games.
Also, backups who were not called on during the Qualifier round will be invited to play in a special Game of Backups.
Here’s the voting process we use to determine our representative and alternate:
- Nominate anyone you feel like in the nomination thread, including yourself!
- You can nominate several people, but please make each nomination into its own comment.
- Vote by upvoting a nomination.
- Please refrain from duplicating nominations — if you see someone’s name already within the thread, please only upvote rather than commenting a second time.
- If you see your name shared by someone else within the nomination thread, please reply to signify whether you would accept or decline the invitation.
- Otherwise, please refrain from making comments in the nomination threads!
