The long-awaited 14th season of King of the Hill has officially been released! You can watch it on either Hulu or Disney+. Either way, the Disney estate thanks you for your generosity.
While I cannot protect you from spoilers that may appear in the comments section, here are my spoiler-free thoughts based on the first four episodes:
- I think they got the characterizations right. Hank is still Hank, Peggy is still Peggy, and Bill is most definitely still Bill.
- The voices have changed. Hank and Boomhauer probably sound the closest, but Kathy Najimy’s “ho yeahs” are still in ample supply. I believe in the first four episodes, Johnny Hardwick is still voicing Dale, and it was a surprise to me just how different he sounds.
- Speaking of surprises, I was pleasantly surprised they dropped the whole season at once.
- I think each episode has basically gotten a little better than the last, with the fourth being the highlight for me so far.
