Still coming up short in the creative arena; I haven’t really been going out much to sketch and when I am home I can’t seem to find the juice to do much sketching or drawing, let alone painting. Looking back over the previous month, I wonder if the figure drawing sessions took more energy than I expected, but there’s also the political situation and my nearing move in a couple of months–the one’s obviously weighed and the other’s beginning to start (also, the weather’s been making my bus trips to the storage unit more onerous than usual). These periods usually pass, but as I’ve said before, they’re no fun to go through.
So here’s a painting from January that I never posted, Hydrocherine Reckon (one of my ink and gouache works that will likely become a mainstay going forward). Got some really nice comments on Instagram thereon from a local musician I really like. It made my day and it’s really pleasant to think back on what a happy surprise that was. The header, by contrast, is 2019’s Imperial Garden, a pretty good roundup of my general emotions during the first shitshow.
