Thank you to every who participated in nominations for the 2024 Avocado Snubby Awards, honoring the best filmwork not nominated at this year’s Oscars. Now we get to vote among the nominees to choose our Snubby Winners!
Notes
- For Best Snubbed Picture, I decided to require at least 5 votes to be nominated, resulting in 8 Nominees. (If I had lowered this requirement, there would have been a big tie I couldn’t break and 13 nominees, which felt unreasonable.)
- In other categories, I simply went with the Top 5 upvoted films, the minimum vote requirement being just one upvote besides the original nominator. A couple of categories have under 5 Nominees due to this. A couple categories with ties I couldn’t break went up to 6 Nominees.
- No real disqualifications to discuss, as I addressed the couple of things that came up in the previous round’s thread. I will say I second guessed accepting Tom Hardy’s voice acting nomination, as generally we’d prefer to nominate performances with no live-action element. But as it is basically a separate character he’s voicing, it makes sense to consider that voice performance by itself nomination eligible.
- Now, for some numbers, here are the most nominated films! Topping the list this year are: Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (11), I Saw the TV Glow (10), Nosferatu (10), Challengers (9), Dune: Part Two (7), and The Substance (6).
Below in the comments will be the nominees in each category. Please do not add more films, simply vote for your preference among these nominees. I encourage plenty of discussion and advocating for your favorites. I will allow at least two weeks of voting before announcing winners.
