With the Big Game1 this weekend, I thought I’d highlight an interesting, but sad, but nice fact: Out of roughly 1700 players in the NFL, Jalen Hurts (who will be starting at quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles this weekend) is the only one who has an all-female management team. Not only that, but it was a conscious decision on his part.
Before Hurts entered the draft in 2020, Nicole Lynn reached out to him via Instagram DMs asking if he had representation, and Lynn wound up becoming his agent after the pair hit it off. After another agent told Hurts and his father ‘Hey, if baby girl doesn’t work out, give us a call. She’s sweet, but—you know,’2 Hurts started thinking about how he saw women being treated as professionals in the industry and in his life.3 And instead of just stopping at thinking ‘Well, someone should do something about that’…he actually did something about it. His agent, manager, media and marketing folks–all women. Pretty cool.
Alright, PT, I know we’re all worn out from the Disqus two-a-days, but now it’s go time. Call it: Heads, you’ll be nice to each other today; tails, you will also be nice to each other today. Let’s have a good, clean thread out there.
