The Thursday Politics Thread Can’t Catch A Break

Mornin’ Politocadoes!

President Biden can’t seem to catch a break lately. Still reeling from his disastrous performance in the debate, he is constantly being harangued by members of his own party to drop out of the race.

The latest high profile Dem is Rep, Adam Schiff, most well known for his work on the House Intelligence Committee. Schiff is running for Senate in a swing district unlike other Democratic congressional representatives who’ve called for Biden to step down. He seems to think it’s a good choice for him in his race. Guess we’ll see.

On top of that, Biden got COVID, despite being vaxxed and boosted. Not entirely surprising as the West Coast is experiencing a surge right now according to wastewater samples compiled by the CDC, though. The President is reportedly feeling mild symptoms. COVID isn’t nearly as deadly as it was four years ago. Nevertheless, Biden is 81 and already in a higher risk group.

Which does nothing but compound the already present concerns about his age and ability to lead. The Democratic National Convention is in August and a very odd, insistent pressure that he drop out now continues to build. I’ll say it again: this was a conversation that needed to be had at least six months ago.

If Biden does cave to the pressure, the only choice is Kamala Harris. The only choice. She’s the Vice President, she polls well, and all of the campaign funds can be claimed by her. Of course, even with all of that said, the last time something like this happened LBJ chose not to run and the Dems still lost…to Richard Nixon.

This hyperventilating about Biden’s health at this stage of the game is at best unhealthy and at worst a shot in the foot.

Welcome to Thursday! Please be excellent to each other in the comments. The Mayor McSquirrel Rule remains in effect. Something to keep in mind! Police are using digital data to prosecute abortion seekers, and Facebook and Google are helping them! Even if they are not legally required to do so, the tech giants will aid them in this since it’s technically against the law. Please be careful when looking for abortion providers or helping someone who is looking for that assistance.
