The Lion King Handheld Game Day Thread Doesn’t Come With Batteries

The Lion King opened on this day 30 years ago. The film was…wait, no. I don’t have to explain The Lion King to you, do I? We good? Good.

Being a big Disney movie in the 90s, there was, of course, a ton of merchandising. This included a Tiger Handheld Electronic Game, and while these have become the butt of jokes online, I always liked them as a kid. I also played The Lion King game so much that its music and sound effects are engraved in my brain. God, pouncing on Scar (you had to do so at least seven times to win) was so satisfying!

Anyway, here’s a commercial where some kid is…by himself in the African savanna. Wait, what’s he doing there? Did his parents abandon him while on safari? What’s this boy’s story? I guess it’s not important, since a girl just randomly hands him The Lion King game, and he starts playing it hard. Though I can say from personal experience that you really couldn’t play these things outside, since the sun would reflect on the screen. Also, if a monkey sits in your lap, don’t keep playing your game like it’s not there. It’s going to get very offended if you ignore it.

Have a great day, y’all!
