Transgender Day Thread Of Remembrance

Transgender Day of Remembrance

Trans people are murdered on the basis of their identity far too often, and here in the US, most of the victims are Black trans women. Here is Human Rights Campaign’s list as of October 25th (when I’m writing this):

This is an incomplete list, just the ones we know about, the HRC goes on to say:

Additionally, HRC is deeply concerned about the deaths of Johana ‘Joa’ Medina, Layleen Polanco and Bubba Walker whose stories we are following closely. Medina, 25, died at a hospital in El Paso, Texas just hours after being released from ICE custody. She suffered severe health complications that went untreated while she was in detention, according to Diversidad Sin Fronteras. Her exact cause of death is not yet known. Polanco was found dead in a cell at Riker’s Island on June 7. Walker, 55, had been missing since July 26 and was found dead in the aftermath of a house fire in Charlotte, North Carolina, on July 30.

Remember them.
