Jeopardy! recap for Wed., Sept. 12

Jeopardy! recap for Wed., Sept. 12 – Please welcome today’s contestants:

– Monica, a pastry chef from New Jersey, winner of a “Best of Philly” award for her crème brûlée;
– Kyle, a music teacher from Colorado, who wrote a symphony dedicated to his grandmother; and
– Lori, a non-profit executive director from California, whose son is a trouper, not a tripper. Lori is a one-day champ with winnings of $34,401.

Lori got off to such a fast start that Alex wondered if she would let her opponents ring in. But Kyle soon found his best stride and prevailed in the late stages, leading into FJ with $17,200 vs. $14,200 for Lori and $7,200 for Monica.

DD1 – HISTORY IN BRIEF – 1494: the treaty of Tordesillas is agreed upon by these two countries (Kyle won $1,800 on a true DD.)

DD2 – URBAN PLANNING – YIMBY stands for this, as some neighborhoods are OK with attracting affordable housing (Monica won $2,000 on a true DD.)

DD3 – MALI – Mali’s “great” one of these in the city of Djenne is the world’s largest mud brick structure (Kyle won $1,000)

FJ – 18TH CENTURY NAMES – In 1789 this doctor proposed 6 articles on penal reform to the French Assembly, including one on capital punishment

Once again this week everyone was correct on FJ, with Kyle adding $11,201 to win with $28,401.

Triple Stumper of the day: No one knew that Henry Hill in “Goodfellas” was played by Ray Liotta.

Correct Qs:
DD1 – What are Spain and Portugal?
DD2 – What is Yes, In My Back Yard?
DD3 – What is a mosque?
FJ – Who was Guillotin? (All three players responded with “Guillotine”, and Alex explained that an “executive decision” was made to accept this, even though the added “e” changes the pronunciation.)
