Bob’s Burgers Season 8 Episode 20

‘Pokemon but they’re all slugs’ is pretty silly, but Bob’s Burgers grounding narrative in hurt feelings and emotional character moments made it work. I would have like to see Louise’s rage play out a little bit more- the episode felt kind of slight, with neither the card theft nor the faculty drinking night, nor Bob’s eulogy getting the full beats those storylines deserved. They were all entertaining subplots, though, so it balances out.
‘Mathy Cathy’ was a great bit of business for Tina, who’s chalking up all kinds of character beat victories this season, adding ‘demonstrated upper body strength’ and ‘imbibed alcohol’ to the list.
