Co-founder and collaborator of Studio Ghibli Isao Takahata has passed away at the age of 82. Working with Hayao Miyazaki since the founding days of their studio, he directed his first acclaimed film Grave of the Fireflies (1988) and since went on to create many other esteemed films, from the reminiscence of Only Yesterday (1991), the quiet but not so quiet My Neighbors the Yamadas (1999), and his last film which earned him and Academy Award nomination The Tale of Princess Kaguya (2013).
