This is the Sportacados Discussion Thread, for talking about all things sports! Feel free to live-chat games, talk about the latest news and rumours, discuss sports history, and anything else that relates to watching other grown adults throw or hit a ball. Hateration is allowed, but try to keep it within the realm of light banter.
News & Results
- The Milwaukee Brewers won the World Series with a 4-1 series victory over the Tampa Bay Rays. It’s the Brewers’ first-ever Series win after over 50 years of existence, and comes in dominant fashion, with the team going 11-2 in the postseason. Wilson Contreras won Finals MVP. The MLB now goes into a period of uncertainty, with upcoming CBA negotiations expected to be contentious.
- The Chicago Bears traded for All-Pro Defensive Tackle Jeffrey Simmons from the Tennessee Titans. The trade came at a steep cost of two first-round picks, but gives some much—needed strength to the Bears defense as they look to go from “happy to be in the playoffs” to an actual Super Bowl contender.
- Big XII commissioner Brett Yormark has announced that he will be stepping down from his position this January. Yormark is credited with keeping the conference together after the departure of Texas and Oklahoma, and bringing in major new members like BYU and Utah. The timing of the resignation is certainly interesting with rumoured upcoming College Football Playoff expansion, the Protect College Sports Act, and a potential additional round of realignment.
