At 207 ft (63 m) above sea level, the highest point in The Bahamas is Mount Alvernia. Located on The Avocado’s favorite-named Caribbean destination, Cat Island, the summit is home to a small monastery known as The Hermitage, which was built by a priest who also gave the location its current name, in reference to a Tuscan location tied to Francis of Assisi.
